Jesus Our High Priest
Jesus the Great High Priest
TheLord has sworn and will not change His mind,“You are a priest forever. According to the order of Melchizedek.”
just as He says also in another
passage,“You are a priest forever. According to the order of Melchizedek.”
where Jesus has entered as a
forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order
of Melchizedek.
And this is clearer still, if
another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek,
Now if perfection was through
the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the Law),
what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order
of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?
The former priests, on the one
hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from
continuing,
For it was fitting for us to have
such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and
exalted above the heavens;
who does not need daily, like
those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for
the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up
Himself.
Therefore, He had to be made
like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and
faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the
sins of the people.
and not through the blood of
goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for
all, having obtained eternal redemption.
Therefore, since we have a
great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let
us hold fast our confession.
but He, having offered one sacrifice
for sins for all time, sat down at
the right hand of God,
For since He Himself was
tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those
who are tempted.
For we do not have a high
priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted
in all things as we are, yet without sin.
Therefore He is able also to
save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to
make intercession for them.
For Christ did not enter a holy
place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now
to appear in the presence of God for us;
For you first, God raised up
His Servant and sent Him to bless you by turning every one of you from your
wicked ways.”
Yes, it is He who will build
the temple of the Lord, and
He who will bear the honor and sit and rule on His throne. Thus, He will be a
priest on His throne, and the counsel of peace will be between the two
offices.”’

Jesus Our Shepherd
- Isaiah 40:11 Like a shepherd He will
tend His flock, In His arm He will gather the lambs And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes. - John 10:3-4 To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
- Psalm 23:3 He
restores my soul; Heguides me in the For His name’s sake.paths of righteousness - John 10:14
.I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me - Ezekiel 34:11-16 “For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out. 12 As a shepherd seeks out his flock when he is among his sheep that have been scattered, so will I seek out my sheep, and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. 13 And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries, and will bring them into their own land. And I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the ravines, and in all the inhabited places of the country. 14 I will feed them with good pasture, and on the mountain heights of Israel shall be their grazing land. There they shall lie down in good grazing land, and on rich pasture they shall feed on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord God. 16 I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will destroy.[a] I will feed them in justice.
- Luke 15:4-7 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ 7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
- John 10:11-15 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. 13 He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. 14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
